Question 3

http://www.scribd.com/doc/216079123/Question-3

Question 4

The ideal reader of my magazine will be C1 or below on the Jicnar scale because people above C1 tend to be teachers, professionals & experts and I doubt that any one of them would read a rap magazine (A very small minority may read) The majority of readers will be in the D&E group as they are mostly unemployed, people with a busy job may not find as much time to read a magazine as somebody who is living off benefits and these people often use that money to buy luxuries, however these people are usually ‘Chavs’ and its majority chavs that will read this rap magazine. The clothing the ideal reader would be wearing is all designer brands (Gucci, Armani, EA7, NIKE, Adidas, Ralph Lauren, Stone Island) they would shop at places like JD Sports, SCOTTS, USC, NIKE store, Adidas Store, Ralph Lauren Store, Armani Store, Selfridges.
They would live in terrace houses in a rough area however this is changing as different socio economic groups (Jicnar Scale) is increasing their interest in rap and hip hop. The ideal reader would value Money and women in life as that is 90% what the lyrics the rappers are rapping about although rappers are suddenly changing this mentality. They would roam the streets and just chill somewhere to socialise or go clubbing and parties. The would spend most of their money of clothes and clubbing/partying not save any not invest any these are the people who live for the weekend. They would either spend their free time just chilling or in the ‘trap spot’ (The trap spot is where people go to meet and sell items like drugs). The car they would aspire to drive would either be a fast hatchback ‘chav’ car like Ford Fiesta ST or a BMW 4x4.
They would own one of two phones (Or both) a IPhone 4,4s,5,5s as this is now the most popular phone and the cheapest is £100 or a Blackberry as the cheapest one £20 and it’s classed as a smartphone. They would listen to their music on CDs, Spotify, Itunes, Soundcloud, Online, Free Downloads.
There are many social groups, and most people are categorised in one.
Rebel
Trendies
Cowboys
Groupies
Utopian
Traditionalist
Puritan
Drop-Out
Innovator
Egoist
Drifter
Cynic

I think my ideal reader would be categorised into the ‘Rebel’ category as these are the sort of people that don’t care what people think, ‘Chavs’, they live for the weekend.

Moodboard (Contents Page)

This is my moodboard of contents pages I have made sourced form the internet, You can clearly tell the professional ones from what students like me have made. I am going to try and make my contents page as professional as I can.
As you can see this contents page is very professional, due to the layout and photo.
Then there is this and obviously this doesn't look as good as the one above due to the layout, the font, the pictures the background etc.

Research On Codes and Conventions (Contents Page)

The Issue number is most of the time positioned in the top left or right corner of the contents page. Normally by the magazine title. The Issue date is usually positioned with the issue number, they are shown together on the front cover and the contents also. The main image on the contents page suggests it will be the main, most important story in the magazine. It is usually positioned in the middle or towards the side of the page. It is framed by the rest of the text.
Masthead is usually in the top left hand corner of the contents page.
Category headings ‘in every issue’, ‘regulars’, ‘every month’ This is usually on the left of the page, also the last of the headings, near the bottom of the page. Eg. Subscriptions, puzzles, competitions
The contents page is laid out into 3 or 4 columns, they are to the side of the main image. As if they are framing the image. They never overlap or cover the image.
Font is usually in size 11pt, numbers may be bigger and obviously the ‘contents’ title. Editors letters, Some magazines have messages from the editors who produced the months magazine. These are usually in either of the bottom corners of the contents page.

The front cover of contents pages may have a small copy of the magazine front cover, they put page numbers in circles to show which story is on which page. This makes it quicker for the audience to locate the page they want.
